SIG Event - online

The ARMS Research Impact Special Interest Group and ARMS First Nations Research Special Interest Group are delighted to come together for a special collaborative session this month!

We will be welcoming guest speakers Jaylene Wehipeihana, Waipapa Taumata Rau University of Auckland, and David Phipps, York University as they discuss ‘The New Zealand and Canadian contexts for supporting Indigenous research for community benefit’.

There are no established "best practices" for supporting Indigenous research but practices are emerging in Canada and in New Zealand. David Phipps and Jaylene Wehipeihana reflect on their experiences and reflect on similarities and differences supporting Indigenous research on Turtle Island and in Māori contexts. They will make the connections between research in Indigenous contexts and knowledge mobilization and present a tool from Research Impact Canada to help non-Indigenous researchers prepare to engage with Indigenous communities.
