PD Sessions @ Zoom: Contracts for Research Managers: What to look for and What to Avoid


This session will focus on identifying key elements of research contracts where research managers can apply their skills to build partnerships and facilitate research contract negotiation. The presenters will highlight key questions for working with researchers, collaborators, and legal advisors.

Lisa Kennedy

The University of Queensland

Lisa worked in crime and criminal justice research at UQ and in the Queensland government before moving into an industry facing position in construction and vocational training. She returned to UQ in 2014 as a Research Partnerships Manager. Lisa says the highlight of her career has been supporting research on the UQ vaccine in collaboration with the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations. In 2020 Lisa was appointed as Acting Director Research Partnerships and later confirmed in her current role.

 

Cristy Sun

The University of Queensland

Cristy was admitted to legal practice in 2000 and spent the first ten years of her legal career at Clayton Utz.   In 2011 Cristy moved to an in-house senior legal counsel role within the Legal Services (Research) team at UQ.   Whilst at Legal Services, Cristy provided legal advice across the broad spectrum of the UQ research community.   Cristy was also actively involved in the preparation of the research legal precedent suite of documents.  After ten years at Legal Services, Cristy moved out of her legal role and into a Research Partnership Management position within the Central Research Partnerships Office at UQ where she assists with the coordination of Cooperative Research Centre matters and key strategic initiatives.


CPD: Accredited members (ARMAs and ARMFs) will automatically accrue 1 CPD hour per session.

ARMS CANCELLATION POLICY

Should your circumstances change, and you are unable to attend this workshop, you must contact the arms.adminofficer@flinders.edu.au by no later than 10 working days prior to the commencement of the scheduled event. ARMS will refund the full registration fee minus any administrative fees.

Should you cancel less than 10 working days prior to the commencement of this workshop, no refund will be payable but instead you may wish to send a proxy.

ARMS reserve the right to cancel, postpone or re-schedule courses and events due to minimum numbers not being reached or for other unforeseen circumstances.  In the event of a cancellation, ARMS will aim to advise all participants in writing five (5) days prior to the scheduled event and will refund the full registration fee including administrative charges within 30 days after notification.
