Shaking Hands with Uncle Sam: A journey to increase US funding

Presenters: Dr Marie-Helene Rousseau, Mr Paul Harris and Mr David Sprinkle.
This presentation will address three aspects of dealing with the US Federal Funding System, from an Australian University perspective. First, it will provide an overview of the current US research policy landscape, discuss recent regulatory changes by US agencies including how agencies are seeking to address foreign interference and discuss new opportunities for how Australian Universities can engage with US funding bodies. Second, it will outline some of the common challenges faced by researchers in applying for US led applications (eligibility, compliance, and systems). Third, this seminar will outline several of the basic steps undertaken to maintain US compliance including SAMs registration, OMB Uniform Guidance Annual US Audits and the need for accurate records. As a result, participants will be empowered to shake hands with Uncle SAM!
