I have been in Research Management since 2012, where I joined the University of Canterbury (UC) in their Research & Innovation office as a Research Contracts Advisor, and then later was seconded into the role of Research Contracts Manager looking after research funded projects. I gained extensive knowledge of the different funding organisations and their policy and regulations (CRI’s, Universities, public funding, NCO’s, international etc.). I then joined the Our Land and Water National Science Challenge in early 2020 (hosted by AgResearch, a Crown Research Institute in NZ) as their Senior Advisor for Research Activities, and have since moved into the role of Operations and Contracts Manager for the Challenge – which includes Financial Management (budgets, forecasts and analysis); Contract Management (drafting, monitoring, evaluation and reporting on contract performance); and Operations Management (processes and procedures).

I have a B-com from the University of Johannesburg, and have also attended a number of courses (like Contracting and Advanced contracting for Non-Lawyers, various leadership and management courses etc.). I have also attended a few conferences – ARMS, INORMS and URONZ. I also belonged to the Contracts Working Group when I was at UC.
