Kirsty is a Science Team Leader at Bay of Plenty Regional Council, where she leads a multidisciplinary team delivering scientific advice and evidence to support environmental management and decision-making, integrating research, monitoring, and applied science.
Previously, Kirsty led the Research Investments Office at Scion (now part of the Bioeconomy Science Institute), supporting pre- and post-award funding management and impact reporting. She has a strong interest in enabling research impact and was a member of the Impact Planning and Evaluation Network (iPEN). Kirsty has held research management roles at the University of Waikato and the University of Oxford, supporting researchers to apply for fellowships and grants. She holds a PhD in Ecology and has postdoctoral research experience in plant conservation, invasive species, and forest ecology.
