ESTABLISHED LEVEL ACCREDITATION PROGRAM (ELAP)

ARMS is pleased to officially launch the newly created Established Level Accreditation Program (ELAP). The ELAP sits between the Foundation Level Accreditation Program (FLAP) and the Advanced Level Accreditation Program (ALAP) and contains many of the elements previously included in the ALAP with the major differences being:

  • There is no workplace-based assignment in the ELAP. The workplace based assignment remains as part the new ALAP program.
  • The ELAP may be completed over three years.
  • Programs/workshops are individually priced allowing participants to spread the cost of the program over a longer period.
  • Participants may accrue points based upon prior learning from ARMS, such as the FLAP, Master Classes or Winter/Spring School Electives successfully completed after 01 Jan 2020.
  • Participants may apply for points based upon prior learning from organisations outside of ARMS when the programs have been completed within 12 months of application to the ELAP.
  • Many elements of the ELAP are available for purchase by individuals that are not participating in the ELAP but wish to undertake independent units of study for their professional development.

CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD)

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) helps those accredited, ARM(A)s, ARM(F)s and soon to be ARM(E)s to:

  • Maintain relevant knowledge;
  • Develop and implement research management practices in their workplaces;
  • Develop their career; and
  • Be an example or mentor to other research management professionals in their workplace.

In order to remain accredited, current ARM(F)s and ARM(A)s must complete a minimum of 60 hours of CPD over each three year period (commencing from the date of graduation or completion).

CPD is claimed via the CPD Diary in your member's portal.  Each application must include:

  • Supporting Documentation such as a brochure, agenda, or a copy of the training program for an event; and
  • Verification from the line supervisor or a certificate of attendance is required and may be uploaded as a copy of an email.

CPD applications are reviewed quarterly, generally in March, June, September and December. Accredited members are requested to submit their applications in a timely manner and within 12 months of the completion of the event.

In order to assist Accredited members with determining their CPD term, ARMS has entered into each accredited member portal the date they were accredited and their current CPD accrual period.  Please see the example below.

For ARMS online events where registration is via the ARMS website (examples include: PD Sessions @ Zoom, Modules, Master Classes, Electives, SIG or Chapter meetings/webinars), there is no need to create a CPD Diary entry as this will occur automatically and be approved once attendance in the online event has been confirmed. Attendance is confirmed by way of a login report that indicates which email addresses attended the event, so please ensure that you log into meetings and webinars using the email address attached to your ARMS portal.

For ARMS conferences where registrations are via an external platform (i.e., Events Air), ARMS will also approve CPD automatically based upon the sessions attended.
