Winter School Elective:
Advanced Clinical Research Management

This elective is delivered over three (3) partial days:

  • Monday 20 June 2022, 11:00am - 2:00pm AEST
  • Monday 27 June 2022, 11:00am - 2:00pm AEST
  • Monday 04 July 2022, 11:00am - 2:00pm AEST

Participants are required to attend all three (3) sessions.

Presenter: Associate Professor Tam C. Nguyen, Deputy Director of Research, St Vincent’s Hospital, Associate Professor, Melbourne Medical School.

The Advanced Clinical Research Management elective will cover the challenges of managing multi- sites, multi-institutional projects including navigating research ethics, research governance, improving community and consumer engagement and building relationships with external funding bodies. The workshop will cover key processes and strategies in business development, project, and team management in the clinical research setting. Participant learn practical and essential skills for effective and active business development and clinical research management.

The Winter School has no formal pre-requisites for the electives featured in the 2022 program. The electives are intended for:

  • Mid-senior level research management staff interested in developing a deep, practical understanding of the topics; and
  • ARMFs - ARMS Accredited Research Managers (Foundation) or ARMAs - Accredited Research Managers (Advanced) seeking to broaden their practical understanding of the topics.


Each Winter School elective has a list of suggested pre-reading materials that are emailed to participants four (4) weeks prior to the commencement of the workshop. The pre-reading list will also serve as a future resource list for participants.


At the end of the workshop, participants will be invited to complete a non-compulsory assessment; due 25 July 2022.

This assessment is compulsory for those participants who have, or will be, registering in the Established Level Accreditation Program (ELAP) in 2022.  


ARMS Members: $550 per elective (GST inclusive) - Price will be discounted in the Shopping Cart.
Non-Members: $650 per elective (GST inclusive)

CPD: Accredited members (ARMAs and ARMFs) will automatically accrue 8 CPD hours per elective. (Registered ELAP participants who successfully complete the assessment will receive 10 ELAP points.)

Should your circumstances change, and you are unable to attend this workshop, you must contact the by no later than 10 working days prior to the commencement of the scheduled event. ARMS will refund the full registration fee minus any administrative fees.

Should you cancel less than 10 working days prior to the commencement of this workshop, no refund will be payable but instead you may wish to send a proxy.

ARMS reserve the right to cancel, postpone or re-schedule courses and events due to minimum numbers not being reached or for other unforeseen circumstances.  In the event of a cancellation, ARMS will aim to advise all participants in writing five (5) days prior to the scheduled event and will refund the full registration fee including administrative charges within 30 days after notification.
