ARMS Annual Conference Update 

 

Thank you to all the delegates that attended  the first two exciting days of the 2021 ARMS Annual Conference.  Today, Friday, is our final day and next week we will be sending out information to delegates on how to view session recordings and access any presentation slides which the presenters have agreed to share.

 

ARMS is pleased to announce the new ARMS 2021 Board under the leadership of President Dr Tania Bezzobs.

 

We also wish to congratulate our 2021 award recipients, announced at the award ceremony yesterday afternoon.

 

The Janet Dibb-Leigh Ward has been awarded to Professor Gayle Morris.

 

The RMIT Paul Taylor Awards for Excellence in Research Management Practice have been awarded to:

  • Category 1 (Research Management Excellence/Individual) - Lisa Van Den Berg, QUT
  • Category 2 (Paul Taylor Medal) - Dr Daniel Barr, RMIT University

The  New Zealand and Pacific Islands Chapter Presents: Understanding Māori Data Sovereignty

This talk will touch on a range of perspectives including what is Māori Data Sovereignty, connection/whakapapa to Indigenous Data Sovereignty, implications of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) for the collection, ownership and application of data pertaining to indigenous people, including Māori, share some examples of Māori Data Sovereignty in action and what are some key considerations and implications for researchers.
