Program Description:
Research funding is becoming increasingly competitive with success rates now generally 10% or less. Research organisations are increasingly looking to diversify funding sources and build the competitiveness and impact of their researchers. Research management professionals frequently face challenges with delivering research funding programs including ensuring alignment of funding schemes with organisational strategy, developing relevant criteria for funding, securing sufficient resources to manage funding schemes, managing compliance with national codes, approach to consumer involvement in peer review, use of external peer reviewers and monitoring return on investment. This elective will provide a practical guide for research management professionals in research organisations to deliver a research funding program that aligns with best practice principles.
This elective is applicable to anyone setting up or managing a funding scheme.
