Research Impact SIG Networking Session - Thursday 28 Aug 2025
The ARMS Research Impact Special Interest Group (RI-SIG) hosts monthly networking sessions on the last Thursday of each month from 1–2 PM AEDT/AEST.
These sessions provide an opportunity to discuss current research impact challenges and opportunities. We offer a mix of guest speaker presentations and open, informal discussions on various topics, fostering connections and idea-sharing within our community.
In this session, we are delighted to welcome special guest speakers:
- Brittany Bennenbroek, Research Impact Adviser, University of Auckland
- Dr Cherie Lacey, Research Impact Manager, University of Auckland
Brittany and Cherie will share reflections from their February 2025 Study Tour to universities along the Australian east coast, where they socialised their draft Research Impact strategic plan. In this session, we’ll hear about the discussions, reflections, and feedback they received from the community.
Framing questions from the conversations were:
- How can research impact respond to increasing calls for diversification and inclusion?
- How can research impact help build the social license of our institutions, especially as distrust in research/science grows?
- How should we navigate calls to ‘quantify impact’?
Whether you’re a seasoned practitioner or just starting your journey, this session offers a valuable opportunity to engage with the latest ideas and perspectives in the region.
