PD Sessions @ Zoom

ARMS Health and Medical Research SIG is pleased to announce the next PD Sessions @ Zoom webinar.

PD Sessions @ Zoom
Mental Health Management for Research Administrators and Managers
Thursday 10 September 2020 @ 12PM - 1PM AEST

Ordinarily members of ARMS execute many roles in supporting research, whether it be the management of grant cycles, IP and contracts, student engagement experiences, impact reporting or one of the many other areas of research management. Most of our members are based in universities, government bodies and research institutions and there is a growing cohort in the health and medical sphere.

In providing comprehensive support to students and researchers, research managers and administrators are exposed to the stresses of their stakeholders as well as their own work and life stresses. Maintaining a good work life balance at certain times of the year seems near impossible for some. In the current era of Covid-19 and all the curveballs it is throwing up, we need as a group to be able to be strong mentally in order to provide a quality service to our stakeholders, while looking after ourselves.

This webinar will provide insight in to how we can look after ourselves and others? What resources/strategies are available to support us? What skills do we and will we need to learn as we chart our way into unknown territory?

About the Presenter:

Dr Denise Riordan is the Chief Psychiatrist for ACT. In addition to her medical qualifications she has qualifications and experience in medical and clinical education, health services management and evidence based research, and uses these, along with her clinical expertise to contribute to developing contemporary integrated mental health services.

This PD Session @Zoom collides with national R U OK? Day 2020

'THERE'S MORE TO SAY AFTER R U OK?'

'2020 has been a challenging year for everyone and circumstances have made it even more important for us all to stay connected and, for those who are able, be willing to support those around us. In the lead-up to R U OK? Day we’ll help Australians know what to say when someone says they’re not OK and guide them through how they can continue a conversation that could change a life.

You don’t have to be an expert to keep the conversation going when someone says they’re not OK. By knowing what to say you can help someone feel supported and access appropriate help long before they’re in crisis, which can make a really positive difference to their life.'

For further information, please visit the R U OK? Day website.
