What You Will Do
The role of Research Consultant is to drive the diversification of research funding by establishing key linkages both within New Zealand and internationally to maximise research funding opportunities. The role sits within the DVCR’s Office to provide both a client focused service to university academic staff that adds value to other business development opportunities. In this role you will have the ability to connect, collaborate and partner with academics within an exciting and diverse portfolio that will drive UC’s research reputation and the impact of our research. You will also have the ability to engage with funders and stakeholders to discuss their research needs and how UC can address them.
Who You Are
The successful candidate will have extensive experience with securing project funding, exceptional communication skills and a collaborative working style. You will be confident dealing with people at all levels and can critically review documents and provide solution-based feedback. The funding environment is fast moving and competitive and we need you to not only move on funding initiatives rapidly but also pre-empt and prepare for potential strategic themes and areas of changing national and international importance. The ideal candidate will have a postgraduate degree and research experience, and/or a project management qualification or MBA, and have:
· appreciation of research funding landscapes, and process of building research collaborations and delivery of research
· experience developing contestable and negotiated research funding proposals or similar proposals/bids
· experience costing projects and developing budgets
· exceptional communication strategies to enhance relationships between various stakeholder groups
· skills in managing conflicting priorities and working independently and using your own initiative.
