With over two decades of experience in the higher education sector, Lynette is a versatile and strategic leader currently serving as Deputy Director, Research Services at Griffith University, where she leads a talented team supporting researchers across all disciplines. Whether it’s navigating complex grants, developing strategy, or improving systems, she love’s helping others succeed and making the research process smoother and more impactful.

Lynette’s career has been defined by a commitment to excellence in university administration, operational strategy, and institutional capacity building. Lynette brings a unique blend of administrative, technical, and leadership expertise, developed through diverse roles across research grants management, digital transformation, policy development, and executive support. 

Noman Habib - Research Support Officer, Charles Darwin University

 

 

 

 

With a background in IT and business analysis, Noman currently works as a Research Support Officer in Charles Darwin University’s Office of Research and Innovation. For the past two years, Noman’s work on the Digital Upskilling Project in the NT has involved designing and delivering foundational AI courses. Noman focus’ on making complex AI concepts understandable and practical for non-technical professionals, always emphasising the ethical considerations of emerging technologies. Noman is committed to helping people adopt technology wisely, inclusively and responsibly.

Marek Kowalkiewicz - Professor and Chair in Digital Economy, QUT Business School

 

 

 

 

Marek Kowalkiewicz is Professor and Chair in Digital Economy at QUT Business School, and one of Thinkers360’s Top 100 Global AI Thought Leaders. He is the author of The Economy of Algorithms: AI and the Rise of the Digital Minions, winner of the 2024 Australian Business Book Award (Technology). Marek has led global innovation teams in Silicon Valley, founded SAP’s Machine Learning Lab in Singapore, and held research roles at Microsoft Research Asia. His work focuses on helping leaders understand and navigate the business implications of AI and algorithmic systems.

Dr Bernadette Hyland-Wood - Research Fellow at the Centre for Data Science, Queensland University of Technology

 

 

 

 

 

 

Dr Bernadette Hyland-Wood is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Data Science, Queensland University of Technology, specialising in responsible data science and deploying generative AI technologies. Her research explores the adoption of rapidly emerging AI platforms by regulators and industry, focusing on data ethics and governance. Dr Hyland-Wood is an investigator on an NHMRC-funded Indigenous-led data governance project. She has served as an invited expert and chaired international data standards groups. Dr Hyland-Wood actively engages with academia, industry, and public policy makers to advance human-centric technologies.  Her work bridges academia, industry, and policy, emphasising research translation incorporating responsible AI and data-driven decision-making. Dr Hyland-Wood is a CSIRO Affiliate and serves on the Social Science Human Research Ethics Board (CSSHREC).
