Mark Hurdley
University of Auckland

Mark Hurdley is Senior Portfolio Lead, International, at the University of Auckland, where he leads the University's strategic engagement with Horizon Europe and other international research funding programmes. Having worked in European research funding since Framework Programme 6 (FP6), he brings extensive experience helping universities and researchers secure funding and build international partnerships. His career has spanned the UK, Europe, and New Zealand, supporting both commercial organisations and universities to enhance their readiness, competitiveness, and long-term success in global research and innovation programmes
Jo Das
University of Western Australia

Joanna Das is a Senior Research Advisor (Pre-Award) at the University of Western Australia, with over a decade of experience in higher education research management across Australia, the UK, and France. She has eight years of specialist expertise in external funding, supporting academics across disciplines to secure competitive grants, including Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe, Australian Research Council, UK Research and Innovation, and industry-funded projects.
Previously, Joanna held senior research development roles in the UK and Europe, supporting academics across the full grant lifecycle. Her experience spans pre-award funding strategy, bid development, researcher training, and complex multi-partner submissions, as well as post-award support for large-scale international research programmes, including governance, stakeholder coordination, and management of multimillion-pound budgets in sectors such as health and energy. She is recognised for her strengths in grant development, process optimisation, and stakeholder engagement, and has introduced streamlined systems and workflows to improve efficiency and transparency.
