2024 ARMS-SG Networking Event
The new Committee of ARMS-Singapore Chapter held its first networking event for 2024 on the 16th February 2024. The venue was at the Novena campus of the Lee Kong Chian Medical School, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
This ARMS-SG Chapter hosted event marked a significant milestone as the first gathering since the Covid-19 pandemic. The occasion sought to bring together research management professionals throughout Singapore, aligning with the Lunar New Year celebrations in this post-pandemic period. Nearly 70 research administrators from diverse academic institutions, hospitals and funding agencies across Singapore participated in this event.
Co-Convenor of the ARMS-SG Chapter, Prof Michael Khor (far left), kick started the event with an introduction to the role of ARMS in aiding research management professionals, and key upcoming initiatives of the Chapter. This includes the ARMS-SG Chapter Conference 2024 which will be held on 24 May 2024 in line with ARMS President Tania Bezzobs’ visit to Singapore. Fellow co-convenor, Dr Willie Koh (left), gave a 45min presentation on the importance of research governance and compliance to research administration professionals. The presentation provided many contemporary and fascinating real-world case examples, which engaged the audience. This session saw active participation with many questions raised for discussion and elicited valuable feedback from the crowd.
The networking event concluded with lunch, providing attendees with the invaluable opportunity to interact and engage with fellow professionals from other institutions, exchange best practices, and contribute to the growth of the local research administration landscape.
